Let the natural beauty of Beech Mountain entice you to come and stay awhile in our beautiful, brand new stone cottage that is only 5 minutes away from the slopes!  Have a great time skiing the slopes on Beech Mountain. Rip the slopes on a snowboard or slide down the tubing hill.

Take advantage of all that each season in the High Country has to offer. After a day of playing, know that you can come home to unwind in the hot tub; warm up by one of two fireplaces; or prepare your meals in a very well-equipped kitchen that is sure to have all of the tools you would need. Then, choose to dine inside by the fire or al fresco on one of our three decks. Enjoy sitting by one of two fireplaces while you watch the snowflakes fall. For a relaxing end to a day of exploration and adventure, make your way upstairs to curl up on the chaise by the fire with a good book or just tuck yourself into the king size bed that awaits you.

All of this and more is available and waiting for you at Beech’s Cozy Cottage, where it’s charming for a couple, and cozy for four.

Skiing
The High Country of Western North Carolina offers an almost unlimited amount of local attractions. Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors flock to this area for its fantastic outdoor activities and family attractions. Our cabin is within minutes of four of the best ski slopes in Western North Carolina; Sugar Mountain, Ski Beech, Hawksnest, and Appalachian Ski Mountain. All mountains offer skiing and snowboarding terrain for everyone from beginners to expert, and some offer ice skating or snow tubing as well.

Outdoor Activities
While skiing is the most popular outdoor activity during the winter months, the area also offers whitewater kayaking and rafting, fishing, and rock climbing; not to mention the countless hiking and backpacking trails scattered throughout the mountains. Grandfather Mountain is North Carolina’s top attraction, and is just minutes away from our cabin. It is the highest peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering uninterrupted 360 degree vistas of the mountain range, as well as a wildlife sanctuary that includes black bears, otters, cougars, eagles, deer, and more.

Appalachian State University
Appalachian State University is another reason this area is so popular. On December 14th, 2007 the Mountaineers won their third consecutive NCAA Division I FCS National Championship. If you’re in the High Country during football season, you can’t miss the excitement of an ASU football game at “The Rock”. The talent of the team and coaching staff and the excitement of the fans make this the one of the most exciting college football programs around. Aside from the football team, ASU also offers a variety of cultural events, concerts, and plays that are open to the public.

Tweetsie Railroad
Tweetsie Railroad is a great place for families with children. Located between Boone and Blowing Rock, Tweetsie features a three-mile ride aboard an authentic steam locomotive and a variety of other rides and attractions. Tweetsie is open from May until November.

Linville
Linville Caverns is located at the base of Humpback Mountain. Water has sculpted these limestone caverns over thousands of years into a true natural wonder. The caverns are less than an hour from Boone, Banner Elk, or Beech Mountain, making it a wonderful day trip to take with the family. You’re sure to see some unbelievable limestone formations that will make you feel as if you’re on another planet.

Linville Falls is another fantastic outdoor destination to visit while you’re in the High Country. The falls have several different steps, ending in a high volume 45 foot drop marking the beginning of Linville Gorge. The falls is owned by the National Park Service which operates a visitor’s center with several miles of hiking trails with views of the falls. Picnic tables are available and camping is allowed at the nearby campground. The falls are located off Mile 317 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Horseback Riding
If you enjoy horseback riding, the High Country offers several local stables with easy access to fantastic riding trails. Banner Elk Stables offers one-hour guided trail rides on various different terrains year round. Blowing Rock Equestrian Reserve is located adjacent to the Moses H. Cone memorial park, offers over 26 miles of trails, and is home to the Blowing Rock Charity Horse Show, America's oldest continuous running horse show. Celtic Unicorn Stables in Boone has hand led pony rides for children and even riding lessons.
